Each morning when I would make my daughters their school lunches, in addition to writing their names I’d draw 3 stars; one for each of us. As a single parent, it was a subtle reminder that there were always the three of us; that they were never alone.

I felt that it was, and is, important to model and teach them things that would help influence and shape their lives in a positive and meaningful way. As they say in the business world, “lead by example”. I also wanted to remind them that they should always “reach for the stars”.

When it came time to choose a name for the winery Three Stars was the perfect choice. Everyone should “reach for the stars” as it’s what making wine is all about for us; continually reaching for the stars, achieving new heights, always making better wine than before.

Everyday wine vs. wine made with passion

One Friday night while having dinner with a group of friends where each couple had brought a bottle of wine to share, one that’s either a favorite or “something special”. During that dinner my good friend Dean Angott asked me the question “What’s a good everyday wine that you like?”

A good everyday wine? Good question I thought. My answer went something like this,

“I don’t drink wine every day so when I do, I want something more than the wines produced for the mass market, which are usually pretty inexpensive but lack in much more than just being another bottle of wine. I like to enjoy wines that I believe someone put thought, effort and passion into making. They put a part of themselves into producing it. And for that I’m willing to pay more for a bottle. I feel that I’m worth it and so is anyone that I’m sharing it with.”

So that question and answer led me to look at the wines I produce. With that in mind I offer a Red Blend; more of an everyday wine as Dean might say, yet special. Then for special occasions, or as a gift for someone or when you want to have something more than just a bottle of wine, I’ve produced a small quantity of a single vineyard that have a lot of thought, effort and passion into every step of its journey from the vine to the bottle.

Three Stars Wines are more than just everyday wines.
